We all love our cars. According to AAA, Americans spend an average of over 290 hours per year in the car. This number has increased by over 8% in the last five years. Since we spend so much time behind the wheel, it only makes sense that we would use technology to enhance the experience and make it more comfortable. Keep reading to see which five apps we really like!
Find My Car (Android)
Have you ever had one of those days when nothing is going right and, to top it all off, you can’t find your car??? Airports, sports stadiums, event centers – drive around one on a busy day and you are guaranteed to see a few bewildered souls wandering around endlessly clicking the unlock button on their key fob. There is an app for that…
Find My Car uses Google Maps Navigation, takes pictures of your parking spot and is FREE! More than a GPS car-parking app, it remembers the GPS coordinates of any other location (car, hotel, meeting point) and the user can share stored locations with friends. Never misplace your car again.
FGL Drive Tracker (iOS)
If you have a new driver in your home, this app is a must for you. FGL DriveTracker will record the driving hours required for a license or permit and it also lets parents and the young drivers know the highest risk for each drive. The app notifies you of things such as rolling stops, speeding, constant braking and hard acceleration. This free app should provide both new drivers and stressed parents some peace of mind by providing hard facts to help new drivers improve and become a safe driver.
Radarbot detects speed cameras and is perfectly legal. If you are the kind of driver who doesn’t like surprises and wants to know what to expect during your drive, minute by minute, you will love this app. The app is crowd-sourced and the supporting community is more than 2 million users strong. They share live updates of many kinds and the app integrates with popular map apps and can even act as a back-up speedometer for those…sticky speed situations.
GasBuddy (Android & iOS)
GasBuddy allows you to save at the pump by always being in the know about which station has the lowest price. You can use this app all over the US and the prices are updated in real-time. As if that wasn’t enough for this powerhouse FREE app, users can also save additional money on gas by using the app’s GasBack feature. The company issues a debit card and, if you are willing to make your purchases with that card, you will save $0.10 per gallon on your first fill and $0.05 per gallon for every fill-up after that. You can also earn cashback by shopping a variety of retailer within the app.
Turo (Android & iOS)
Airbnb for your car…this idea is surely the next Post-it®! Too late, because Turo beat us all to it. This app allows users to find an alternative to a rental car. You can also earn money by sharing your own car. The app can connect you with an every-day car or a specialty car, as well. Some options even have the car delivered TO you.
Try out one of these apps and tell us about it in the comments below. We would love to hear from you!
